Brigham City Temple Dedicated Sept 2012
OK I deceided to try and catch back up with my blog, almost one year behind, but I have graduated from Cal St Univ - Fullerton with a Masters in Economics and my son is on a mission in Washington - Tacoma.
The Brigham City Utah Temple was dedicated on 23 September 2012 by Boyd K. Packer. It is the Church's 139th temple. The Brigham City Utah Temple will be the fourteenth temple built in Utah and the first built in Box Elder County. It is south of the Logan temple (1884 - 2nd dedicated after saints arrived in Utah in 1847) and north of the Ogden temple (1972 - 14th dedicated). There are 68 dedicated temples in the US and 71 outside. There were 162 announced as of Sept 2012.

My son Tommy just got called to the Washington Tacoma Mission. He enters the LDS Missionary Training Center in Provo on May 15th. We are all excited. We just found the blog that the Mission President's wife maintains. thebeautifulwa-tac.blogspot.com They just received their first group of Elders and Sisters since the October General Conference announcement change and sure enough this month brought 7 elders and 18 sisters. I don't think we had 18 sisters in our mission in Idaho Boise in 1983, 1984.
Sorry I have not posted in months. Lots of exciting things have happened, like the church has over 3,000 stakes, 1,503 in the US and 1,503 outside the US. 3 new temples announced, etc. etc. I have been busy finishing my master's degree and will get back to this Blog in May when I graduate if not sooner.
Keep the Faith !
Of course I will post after the April Conference Statistical Report
Still Bummed Mitt Romney did not win.

2 new stakes - Nigeria & Japan
Two new stakes were created on June 24th.
This is the third new stake in Nigeria in 2012 and there are now 21 stakes there. But this is the first stake in Central region of the country of Nigeria, in it's capital city. There is a temples in Aba, Nigeria dedicated in 2005. There are only 3 temples in all of Africa with two more under construction.
This is the first new stake in Japan since 2003, almost ten years, in fact 4 stakes were consolidated in Japan in 2001, 2003, 2006 and 2008, so this is good news that things are stabilizing. Japan's population is shrinking and the church has only been growing at a rate of 6.6% increase over the first decade (2000-2010.) This compares to USA decade LDS growth of 44%. Japan used to have 31 stakes, but now is back to 29. CNN reported that the Japanese government released a report that "Japan's population will shrink by a staggering 30% by 2060, according to a new estimate by the country's government."
32. Abuja Nigeria - June 24th, 2012
33. Tokyo Japan South - June 24th, 2012
There has been an increase of 31 stakes in 2012, 20 of which have been outside the US. There are now 1,501 stakes in the US and 1,476 stakes outside the US. We are still on track to hit 3,000 stakes worldwide this year.
