3 more new Stakes - Mexico, Venezuela, Texas

The LDS church has now created 26 stakes in 21 weeks in 2012.

The Ciudad del Carmen México is coastal in the southern Yucatan Peninsula on the eastern side of Mexico.  This is the 4th stake created in Mexico this year and there are now 226 stakes in Mexico (Brazil has 244) This stake is closest to the Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico temple, dedicated in 2000.  There are 12 operating temples in Mexico and one more under construction. (There are 13 operating temples in Utah + 3 under construction)

The Porlamar Venezuela stake is also coastal in the northern part of Venezuela. This is the first new stake in Venezuela in 2012 (4 last year) and there are now 34 stakes there.  By comparison, Ecuador has 34 stakes, England 37 and Australia 32.  Venezuela just has the one temple in Caracas, dedicated in 2000.

The Summerwood Texas Stake is a suburb of Houston. This is the second new stake in Texas in 2012 and there are now 58 stakes there. There are 4 temples in Texas including nearby Houston.

All three new stakes this week were near the Gulf of Mexico. Coincidence, I think Not !
